Wig & Hairpiece Care |

Synthetic
Wig &
Hairpiece
Care
Your synthetic wig/hairpiece is an investment.
If you take proper care of your investment,
it should maintain its curl and last you
several years.
Do not expose your synthetic wig/hairpiece
to extreme heat. Heat from cooking, steam,
blow dryers, and curling irons can and will
melt the synthetic hair fiber.
Do not use a comb, brush, or pick on your
wig. Untangle any matted curls using your
fingers, only, and use our Wig Styling Spray to style (spray and gently scrunch with
your hand - do not use sprays on Nicole wig.
Simple restyle loose curls using your fingers)).
Use your fingers, as well, to reform any
curls that need it.
Unless you are wearing your wig/hairpiece
daily, you should not have to wash it very
often (Nicole wigs shoudl not be washed.).
We recommend washing only once a year. See
washing instructions below.
After wearing your Bridget, Ciara, Brenna,
Riley or Claire hairpiece, spray twice with
our Wig Leave-In Conditioner & Lusterizer and twice with our Wig Styling Spray, then gently scrunch with your hand and
put the wig back in a hairnet to hold the curls.
After wearing your Molly 3/4 cap wig, we
recommend letting it air out and dry on one
of our Folding Wig Stands. After it is completely dry, spray twice
with our Wig Leave-in Conditioner & Lusterizer and twice with our Wig Styling Spray, then gently scrunch with your hand and
put a hairnet around the wig. You can store the wig with
hairnet in one of our stay-dry wig bags.
After wearing your Nicole 3/4 cap wig with
protective coating, we again recommend letting
it air dry on one of our Folding Wig Stands. After your wig is completely dry, do not
spray it with anything. The protective coating
on this wig is all that is needed to maintain
luster and to keep your wig frizz free. Simply
fold your wig comb to comb and store it in
your hairnet and then in one of our stay-dry
wig bags.
Washing Your Wig/Hairpiece
Unless you are wearing your wig/hairpiece
every
day (which you probably are not, since
it is
for dancing) you should only need to
wash
it once a year.
To wash your wig/hairpiece, follow these
instructions: (Do not wash Nicole wigs)
| 1. |
|
Fill your sink basin with cool water. |
| 2. |
|
Add a capful of synthetic wig shampoo and blend in. Never use regular shampoo
on synthetic wigs and hairpieces. If the
wig has picked up the odor of smoke or other
strong odors, you may add a teaspoonful of
baking soda to your basin and blend in. |
| 3. |
|
Gently swish the wig or hairpiece in the
water for about 30 seconds until the wig
is saturated. |
| 4. |
|
Let the wig/hairpiece soak in the basin for
about 10 minutes. |
| 5. |
|
Empty the basin of water and rinse the wig
or hairpiece in cool water. It is very important
to use cool water on curly wigs, because
warm water will over-relax the curl. |
| 6. |
|
Gently squeeze excess water out of your wig
or hairpiece. Do not rub or twist. |
| 7. |
|
Spread the wig or hairpiece out on an absorbent
towel and leave in a ventilated area to dry
overnight. You should spray a little wig lusterizer on the piece when you start the drying process. |
| 8. |
|
When the wig is entirely dry, and not before,
re-style your wig gently with your fingers.
Wrap curls around your fingers to reform
them if they are matted down. Gently shake
and fluff by hand. Spray with a little wig styling spray and lightly scrunch by hand. |
